Regular lab events

The SOC has multiple regular events such as parties, borrels and scientific meetings. In addition to the events shown below, most sub-groups also have their own meetings etc.

• The weekly Rutjes meeting currently takes place on Thursdays from 9:00-10:00. The schedule of these meetings and their location is communicated by Marieke. This meeting serves as a work-discussion and master interns should do their final presentation in this meeting. Attendance for members of the SOC is mandatory.
• The weekly IMM colloquia generally take place on Tuesday from 16:00-17:00. The subjects, speakers and location are communicated via email.
• The monthly cluster borrel takes place the last Friday of the month between Wing 1 & 2 on the third floor of the Huygens (unless communicated differently via orgchem-group@science.ru.nl).
• The annual Rutjes BBQ takes place before the end of the academic year generally in June or July. The Rutjes BBQ is also combined with the final presentations of the Bachelor interns for which attendance is highly appreciated. More details about the BBQ and bachelor symposium are communicated via the rutjes-group@science.ru.nl mailing list. If you are interested in organizing the next Rutjes BBQ, please contact Marieke.
• The annual Christmas party takes place before the end of the calendar year generally in the last week before the Christmas holidays. These often feature a theme and dinner and are communicated via the orgchem-group@science.ru.nl mailing list. If you are interested in organizing the next Christmas party, please contact Marieke.
• The annual safety lecture given by the safety committee takes place sometime during the year. This is communicated via the orgchem-group@science.ru.nl mailing list. Attendance for everyone who wants to work in the lab (both bio and chemistry) is mandatory. In addition, fire extinguishing trainings are offered.
